My last day at Certiport!

It was quite a surprise! I was in the middle of a project when I was called into the HR Office. They told me they were downsizing and give them my key. They gave me my vacation pay and told me they would give me my severance of two weeks pay when I brought back the paperwork signed. Jan Day was stupid when he said, “You took this better than I thought you would, Rosalie!” Sad, this man did not even know me and what I did at Certiport. I was expendable as far as he was concerned! Sad, very sad!

I told Mike the minute that I got into the van in the parking lot. He texted me later that day that 15 people had been laid off. The Certiportian’s are calling it “Black Monday!” It was a very sad day for me! I loved working at Certiport with the Salesmen and feeling like I was helping students improve their chances at jobs by being certified in Microsoft and Adobe products.

Denise's Last Day and Other Changes at Certiport

Today is an interesting day. First it is the day that I no longer am on the Higher Education Team as Sales Support. It is a sad day and I am trying to make the best of it. However, I do not have to move for two weeks so at least I can still talk to my team! Second, it is Denise Ferrell’s last day at Certiport and Diane made a video of all of us saying good-bye. She put it on “Youtube” so I will download it here as the only way to preserve it.

We went to lunch as a whole Sales Team because Denise helped all of the salesmen and women with their Tradeshows. She knew them all very well. She is going to start a store in Spanish Fork. She has been a good friend and I am sad that she is leaving! It was a fun day, anyway, and little did I know that it was one of my last fun days at Certiport. (More of that later.)

Skilled2Succeed Graduation 2009

It was so fun to see all of the students come to graduation. They did so well in class. Joe Catlett, David Lindsey, Roetta Bishop and I were the instructors for this session. Michelle asked us to speak again. I did not know that she would have us be out on “Youtube” though. So rather than write a lot about it, I will download the “Youtube” video and you can watch it.

Giving of my time for the last 4 years for this program has been a real highlight of my life. I have met so many really neat people and hope that I have helped make their travels in this life a little easier by giving them computer skills.

Sleeping Beauty Ballet 14 June 2009 in Federal Way, WA

I have been in Auburn, WA all weekend. I am lovin' it, too! When I first got here, we went to get lunch and do shopping for a snack later and we ate on our way to Seattle. Next we went to the Science Museum in Seattle. It is by the Space Needle, so I got an awesome picture of that too! I took lots of pictures of my Granddaughters. It was a lot of fun to see the girls enjoy the museum and want to share their knowledge with me. They are a lot of fun to be around.
After that we went to their Uncle Mark and Aunt Carissa's to have supper and watch a movie. My body was very tired so I was glad when we headed for Heidi's house.
We got their and Happy, their dog, was so happy to see us! We got things ready for bed and ourselves, too! Steven has a paper due and has been working on it all day. Fun! Not!
It is just fun to be here!

I had an interesting and very busy weekend! After taking Danielle for an eye appointment, shopping and then resting a little, Nik comes and tells me that we are going to go see the new Star Trek movie with our Grandsons, Devin and Keldan, Megan came along because Heather babysat Konner. An interesting new twist to help them create a new series of movies! Now if they would leave out the overtones of you know what--We all would be better off. My Grandson are too young to have that stuff thrown at them! And then they wonder why there is so many problems in society???

I enjoyed Church, of course! Then we went to see Kyle Crossett who is home from the hospital after his longboarding accident. The kid had brain surgery and is fortunate to be alive and walking and talking, yet he was worried that they cut off his best shorts. Hasn't learned a thing, I'm thinking!
Then, I went to help Sister Dorothy Copeland work on taking stitches out of a quilt that she made a mistake on. It was fun to talk with them. They are getting on in years and I will miss them when they go!

Mothers Day

I had an awesome Mother's Day! It started out with Church. The speakers were Tony and Terri Martin. I really liked them. They gave Mother's a CD called "We Ever Pray for Thee". It has a few of the songs that I really like, so I am excited to listen to it. The quote they put on it is:

"The true spirit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives
to woman the highest place of honor in human life."
President Heber J. Grant

We learned about Joseph Smith in Liberty Jail and being patient in afflictions. Boy is that something we all need to work on. Afflictions are our teachers.

After Church, my Children and Grand Children came over to visit. Megan gave me the cutest picture of Keldan and Konner. Heather and her children made me a cute card. It was fun to watch my Grand Children play together.

Then, today was the Farewell for my boss, Mike's, daughter--Lisa. I went down to Elkridge to give her a thought to take with her on her mission and to visit. It was really nice to get to know his wife, Ann, better. I really enjoyed the time visiting.

The best part of the day is now, though, because Danielle is teaching me how to blog!! Cool huh! She says that I am a boring blogger because she is falling asleep while I type. She says I am a slow typer and compared to her, I am!
